A Paper Voice: The Story

I wasn't always interested in blogging. I doubted I had any use for such a beast, and considering I'm not exactly what you'd call technologically savvy, I didn't think I'd be capable of doing it. Clearly, I was mistaken.

You see, I'm wanting to establish myself in the writing world, and to do so, my Career Development Specialist suggested that I introduce myself to the world of blogging. Figuring I'd have nothing to lose, I said why not, realizing that whoever was the genius behind blogging would certainly create an instruction manual.

Believe it or not, A Paper Voice wasn't what I had originally wanted to call my blog. I had wanted so badly to channel my inner George Orwell, circa 1984, and name this site after the speakwrite contraption in his novel. Alas, such things were not meant to be. So, after mulling over names for a while, I thought about how I had considered writing an essay about the importance of voting, and that I had wanted to call the piece A Paper Voice. Though the internet isn't exactly made of paper, it's still a place where you can make what you have to say heard, and so I decided that A Paper Voice really was the best name after all.

I also decided, when I started this project back in September 2011, that I didn't want to write about menial things that are of little or no importance. So the sun's shining and that makes me happy. Whoopie-do. To say things like that is why I have a social networking page. I determined, right from the get-go, that if I was going to write a blog for all the world to see, then it had damn well better be interesting, thought provoking, intellectually stimulating, and perhaps able to garner a laugh or two. It also needed to showcase me for who I really am. And so, that has been my goal since starting A Paper Voice.

To everyone who follows, and reads what I have to say, I hope I'm not failing you. I try to keep a rather diverse collection of writings, because I don't think I could handle confining myself to just one topic or issue, so here's hoping that I've written a selection that can appeal to everyone.

Thanks for following, and for all of your support.
